A goldendoodle is a cross breed dog that is bred between a golden retriever and a poodle (usually a standard or miniature). There are 3 sizes of the goldendoodle: miniature which weighs between 15-30 lbs., medium which weighs between 35-45 lbs., and the standard which weighs from 50 lbs and up. They are bred for their intelligence, temperament and their non-shedding qualities. Both of the breeds used to create Goldendoodles tend to be smart and learn quickly. If you begin socialization and training early and use positive reinforcement techniques such as praise, play, and food rewards, you will be met with a wonderful companion. Goldendoodles are affectionate and love their people well. They have a moderate activity level, with the smaller ones needing less activity, but they need to be walked and socialized every day. They can be trained as guide dogs and companion dogs which their temperament and intelligence are ideally suited.
